Do you remember the song being sang in the school or in your local church “Read your Bible and pray everyday”?
If you do here’s the toughest question and the most hurtful one. “Do you find a couple of minutes each day to read your Bible? If you do, then God will be so proud of you but if you don’t?
I don’t know, you’re missing something that can improve your overall spiritual life. I will discuss some reasons why you should read your Bible everyday.
If you still don’t have a Bible, you can buy a King James Version or a New English Version at Amazon.com. You can also check bookstores on malls, they also sell the Holy Bible for an affordable price.
1 | READING THE BIBLE GIVES YOU PEACE
In our daily lives, what we always do is to work, work and work. We often forget how to relax and give time for yourself.
We also forget our main purpose here on Earth which is “To know Christ and make Him known”. How can we proclaim the name of Jesus if we don’t find time to do it? When our minds are occupied with so much work right?
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”-John 14:27
That is why God inspired His disciples to create the Bible. It is made to make us peaceful and free from all the obstacles this Earth gave us. So it is a necessity for us to read the Bible everyday. Why?
If the Bible can give us the peace of mind, soul and heart then we should read it everyday for an everyday peace together with a prayer right?
People nowadays, even Christians can feel that the are lost in nowhere. We always feel that our purpose in life is blurry and it seems to be not that really clear to us.
But when you read the Bible where God’s messages can be found, you will find (again) your real purpose here on Earth.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”-John 14:6
So when you read your Bible everyday, you will always find your direction in life, the purpose why God created you to live and live the life you’re living right now.
3 | READING THE BIBLE BUILDS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
When we always read the Bible, your faith on God becomes stronger. Reading the Bible can give us more knowledge/wisdom about God and His good works.
Also, you can’t be a good servant of the Lord if you don’t know even the heart of the Bible which is John 3:16 right?
So to establish our relationship with God and make it deeper, we should read His fruitful messages in the Bible and apply it on our daily life.
“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”-1 Corinthians 2:5
4 | READING THE BIBLE MAKES YOU WISER
You bought a Bible, now what? The Bible can’t protect you but the words of God inside it can.
The Bible is full of stories about life that can give you more wisdom to face struggles in life. The Bible is full of advice that can lead you more on knowing Christ.
And most of all the Bible is there to guide us and lead us to Christ. If we want to be wiser, let’s meditate on the words of God to strengthen our faith.
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.”-Proverbs 2:6
5 | READING THE BIBLE CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE
As what I’ve discussed above, there are plenty of advise that can lead us more to Christ. And these advises changed my life so it will also change YOUR LIFE.
God doesn’t want you and me to be lost in the darkness, He wants us to be free from our sins. That’s why He inspired His prophets to create the Bible not just to add books in our shelves but to change our way of living.
For example: If you are a black sheep in your family then someone read to you the Prodigal son. You realized that your family is the only one that will accept you for who you are.
If they are always angry at you, maybe they just want to make you better. God uses instruments to take care of you and to protect you. Let God change your life, don’t block His Holy Spirit from changing you and from making you a better person.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”-Romans 12:2
